 Preschool - Marilee Thurman

Marilee graduated from Battle Ground High School and George Fox College. She taught preschool in Monmouth, Oregon for one year; Community Christian Center in Cudahy, CA for 12 years; Village Christian School in SunValley, CA for 15 years. She has been here at Hosanna for 3 years now full time and 5 years as a substitute teacher. She was born in Oregon City, OR. She moved to Vancouver, WA sophmore year of High School. She married Tom 33 years ago here at First Evangelical Church. They moved to California for 25 years and have been back here in Vancouver for 5 years.

Sue graduated from WSU in '91 with a BA in Psychology, Sociology and History. She also graduated in '93 from WSU with her Masters in teaching. Her work history includes 5 years at a children's day care, 4 years at First Independent Bank and 1 year subbing for ESD. She has been teaching here at Hosanna for 13 years. She was one of our Kindergarten teachers for 10 years and now our 1st grade teacher for the past 3 years. She has lived here in Vancouver area all of her life. She has 3 teenage children who all attended Hosanna during the elementary years.
 2nd Grade - Pat Van House

Pat graduated Western Washington University with major in Math and minor in Biology. She has taught junior high Math in Shelton, then substitued for 18 years in many districts and grade levels and has been here at Hosanna for 14 years. She has been a member of First Evengelical since 1979. She was born in Toledo, OR and has lived here in Vancouver for 52 years. She has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Three of her grandchildren attend Hosanna.
 3rd Grade - Janet Phillips

Janet graduated from Fort Vancouver High school and University of Portland. She taught in Vancouver School District from 1980 to 1984 then joined Hosanna in 2003. She has also taught 5th grade here at Hosanna. She has been married to Dennis our custodian since 1980. They have 4 kids which Janet homeschooled from 1993 to 2003. She was born and raised right here in Vancouver.
 4th Grade - David Wright

David has a BS in Resource Mangement from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and a Masters in Teaching from Warner Pacific. His work background has been in forestery and teaching. He was at Cornerstone Christian School for 14 years and has been here at Hosanna for 5 years. He has taught grades 1st through 8th grade. He is married to Sandra who is also a Christian School teacher. They have 4 adult children one of whom is a teacher. All of their kids attended Christian schools from K-8th grade.
 5th/6th Grade - Jenna Bertsch

Jenna graduated from Columbia River High School, Clark Community College and Central Washington University with a degree in Elementary Education. During her school years she worked at Fred Meyers, Portland Motorcycle and Student Deli at Central. She has been here at Hosanna since graduating from Central. This is her 4th year here. She has taught 5th through 7th grade. She was born and raised here in Vancouver. She has been married to Matt for 3 years and they are expecting their first child in April.
 7th/8th Grade Literature - Pastor Steve Briner

Steve graduated with a BA in English from Sonoma State University. He then went on to receive an MDiv from Golden Gate Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister and the lead pastor at First E. Steve and Mary met in youth group at a church in northern California and have been married for twenty-eight years. Pastor Steve and his wife, Mary, have lived in Vanouver for eighteen years. They have four children ages fifteen to twenty-two.

Leah graduated with her BA in public affairs with emphasis in Politics and Policy. She then went on to get her Masters in Teaching. She has taught at VSD with Kindergarten and 2nd grade. She has been here at Hosanna for 3 years teaching 7th/8th grade. She was born and raised here in Vancouver, WA. She has been married to Andy for 6years. They have two children.
 7th/8th Grade Math, Science & Home room teacher - Chris Stidd

Chris is from Kalamazco, MI. She has her BA in Elemenary Education from the University of South Florida. She has taught for 23 years in Christian Schools from grades 3rd to 12th. She taught for 16 years in Alaska, 7 years in Florida and this her first year here at Hosanna. She has been married to Jack for 18 years and they have one son.
